The Progressives are Running

There was a spotlight on progressive candidates during New York's June 2026 primaries. Many were backed by Senator Bernie Sanders, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, local political groups, and thousands of volunteers. Many won their races.

Part I. Chuck for Queens

This project was inspired by my friend Chuck Park. Chuck ran a grassroots campaign against an incumbent in New York’s 6th Congressional District. He did not win, but he did get over 40% of the vote. It was his first time running for office.

Part II. More Candidates, More Volunteers

Senator Bernie Sanders and Mayor Zohran Mamdani host a Get Out the Vote rally at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn. Progressive candidates continue campaigning, many buoyed by the same volunteers that helped get Zohran elected.
